Well, I don't know if I've mentioned this enough, but we have been blessed with the most INCREDIBLE friends here! Not only do I have 3 or 4 people researching and keeping their eyes open for me, but I have the most generous friend who is always letting me borrow her stuff...and since she is very pregnant and sick she brought over their bikes for us to borrow and try out! SUPER FUN!
The weather cooled down to below 100 degrees for a few days last week, so we geared up and hopped on Saturday morning/afternoonish. Turns out it was back to over 100 degrees that day. So it wasn't the most pleasant bike ride ever, but it sure was great exercise!
Moving on to the Binky portion of our life...
Urban has been going through a rough sleep phase (again) for the past several weeks. It seems like he'll go for months of being perfect, then a while of rough, then back to perfect. But this phase was probably the hardest yet. He would scream and scream and refused to nap and wanted to sleep with us...etc, etc. We had been planning on taking his Binky away soon anyway. He hasn't had it during the day since he was about 13 months. So we figured..."What the heck! None of us are sleeping right now anyway! Let's do this thing!"
I followed the advice of my visiting teacher and started by cutting the very tippy tip off. (Without him seeing of course). Then we were going to cut a little more off each night until it wasn't worth Urban's time to hold in his mouth anymore.
Man I wish I had caught this moment on camera because it blew me away!
Urban walked over to get his Binky (or "Binks" as he calls it) for the night and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw what had happened. Then he walked a little closer, picked it up, showed it to us, and simply said "uh-oh." He turned it around in his hands a few times, stuck his little finger in the new hole, tried putting it in his mouth a few times, then just put it down and walked away.
He hasn't wanted it since!! What!? He has had that thing his entire life! He has never fallen asleep without it! He begs and cries for it all the time! And now it's just gone? Zip? Zero? Zilch? Yup. Seriously wants nothing to do with it now. He falls asleep without it, and I think he even behaves better during the day. Especially in the car. He used to think we were constantly hiding his Binks from him and were out to get him. Now life is easy breezy. Phew. Glad that's over. I was dreading that to be the second worst thing after child birth.
I took the following pictures as a momentum. uh huhuhu I can't believe we don't have a Binky baby anymore :( I think I'll have them printed on canvas and hung above our bed :)
They are clear...so made for kinda cool art don't you think?
